Blue Springs State Park - Florida

Visiting Blue Springs came highly recommended from many people, so we made sure to take a drive one day to see it for ourselves.

It is a common gathering place for manatees, who sometimes escape the colder river water for the warmer spring water. Blue Springs can sometimes have hundreds of manatees gathered. We happened to be blessed with warm weather, so the manatees were out mostly in the rivers enjoying the warmer waters there. We still spotted several large and small manatees at the spring, as well as huge alligator gar, catfish, and a very large alligator lurking around the water. The water is crystal clear, so the views from the overlook decks are phenomenal!
