Camping in the NY Adirondacks

We made a conscious choice to veer off of the interstate as we continued our trek east to Maine. We wanted to be sure to pass through Vermont and New Hampshire and also get a chance to really experience the beauty of the upstate mountains in the fall.

We stayed just south of Lake George, NY, near Glens Falls, at Moose Hillock RV Resort. This place is known for it's massive, heated pool and waterslides, however, the pool is closed for the season. Consequently, we scored half-price off-season sites that are HUGE, and a VERY quite campground with hardly any other visitors. It was fantastic! These sites are probably the largest we've seen in all of our traveling, and each is equipped with a really cool rock fire pit. We got the hint and enjoyed roasted hot dogs and s'mores over the fire. I'm sure the pool is amazing when it's up and running, but we loved our camping experience at Moose Hillock in the fall.

We were hoping to catch the Adirondack Hot Air Balloon Festival while we were in town, but the weather was just not quite right for balloon flying. Nevertheless, we enjoyed a lovely drive to check out Lake George (the lake and the town.)
