Disney World!

Disney Resorts, including the Disney Fort Wilderness Campground, are notorious for being one of those places you need to book way in advance to secure a reservation. We just happened to check for openings last week and were able to score a spot with only a few days notice. It was the best surprise for Sawyer's 11th birthday!

We love Fort Wilderness! It is HUGE - over 700 acres! (Disney World covers over 43 square miles!) The sites are set up and maintained really well to ensure enough space between campers. The landscaping made us feel like we were truly in the middle of a forest (even though we were in the middle of Orlando.) Bonus, we spotted wild turkeys, armadillos, turtles, lizards, squirrels, ORANGE TREES, and so much more. Because of its size, most people rent a golf cart while staying at Fort Wilderness. We opted to use our bikes to get around, and that worked great for us. The pool was less than a minute ride and the boat dock to travel by ferry around Disney World was a five minute bike ride for us.

There are two pools in the campground, which we spent several days around, enjoying the amazing Florida sunshine. Fort Wilderness gets all the perks as other Disney Resorts - extra magic hours at the parks, plus free transportation around Disney World. We loved hopping on a boat one day over to the Disney Polynesian Resort to enjoy a pineapple whip and sit on the beach. You can read more about Fort Wilderness HERE.
