WHAT?
We moved from our Grand Design Reflection 311BHS to a Grand Design Solitude 3740BH.
WHY?
Yep, mid-trip we decide to purchase a new rig for a number of reasons. Basically, we'd put a lot of miles on our last camper, and although it held up great, it was starting to show some wear. Also, we're growing! They kids are like weeds, and it literally feels like they get taller every day. The new rig is just a little bit longer and wider than our Reflection. It also adds a little more space in the living room with an extra long couch instead of the couch + dinette. Bonus, we had the option of having a washer + dyer installed in the new rig, which will cut back on time spent on all of our trips to the laundromat. (With 5 of us, we create an enormous amount of laundry on the road.)
It was really hard giving up our Reflection just because it had been so good to us. It was also a really important part of making huge changes in how we are living our lives. We hope the new Solitude will help us continue the journey!
WHO?
We really love our RV sales coordinator in Montana (Ryan @ Bretz RV in Billings), so when we decided to make this purchase, finding a dealer in Florida that we liked as much was difficult. We had a few conversations with really pushy sales people that didn't go so great, but we finally found a good connection at General RV. They were able to find just the model we were after and were a pleasure to work with. This is how crazy today's world works:
FOUND the RV listing ONLINE
COORDINATED with sales person from General RV in UTAH
Put down a DEPOSIT and had the new rig shipped from MICHIGAN to FLORIDA
PICKED UP our rig in FLORIDA
WHERE?
We finalized the purchase at General RV in Jacksonville. They claimed it was a slow day for them, but there were still 14 units going out that day. We took several hours moving our things from one camper to the other in their parking lot.
