Grand Rapids - Michigan

Updated: Feb 1, 2021

We stopped in Grand Rapids for a few days to restock and refuel our supplies - bike repairs, groceries (Trader Joe's!!!), and a few miscellaneous things for the camper. We stayed just on the edge of the city at a wonderful little campground along the Grand River - Steamboat Park Campground. In a non-COVID world, the campground also runs an actual steamboat, The Grand Lady, up and down the river. The kids diligently fished along shallow banks for hours and finally hit a honey hole of large-mouth bass, crappie and perch. They were ecstatic and had an absolute blast. Ray had a little fun too.

Not being too keen on big cities, we were pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed our time in Grand Rapids. We met some wonderfully friendly people. Even the cashier at Trader Joe's gifted me a TJ bag and flowers, welcoming us to Michigan. We've thoroughly enjoyed our adventures in the "Great Lakes State," and ready to bid it farewell as we move on to the next chapter of our journey.
