SpaceX Rocket Launch!

After our visit to the Kennedy Space Center on Cape Canaveral, we were so excited to see our first rocket launch! The launch of the SpaceX Falcon was scheduled for February 4th at 1:19AM, sending the 19th batch of 60 satellites into orbit for the SpaceX Starlink Network.

The launch pads on Cape Canaveral are only about 30 miles from our campground, so we were set up for an amazing view. We set an alarm to make sure we didn't miss it! Just before launch we gathered with a few neighbors on the pier over the river here at our campsite and waited. Our camp neighbors said we were lucky to catch a night launch, as you can see the rocket better in the night sky,

As the final count down commenced and the engines fired, the horizon turned orange like a brilliant sunrise. I'm not sure what we were expecting, but it was truly amazing seeing it burning so bright as it moved across the sky. About two minutes after the launch we heard and felt the rumble from the engines.

Neighbors helped point out to us when the main launch engines separated from the rocket and the secondary engines kicked in. We stood in awe and watched it disappear into the stars. AMAZING!
