We stopped in San Antonio for a few days to catch the Valero Texas Open Tournament. Any stay in San Antonio requires a trip to the Alamo and the River Walk if you've never been before (especially if you're a native Texan.) The boys recently read a book about the Alamo, and they love the old western movies about Davy Crocket, so they were really excited to see it for themselves.
The Alamo is always much smaller in person that what anyone would imagine, but the stories and legacy it leaves behind are no doubt moving. I was really surprised how much it's changed since I last visited MANY moons ago on a school trip.
After our Alamo tour, we walked the few blocks over to San Antonio's famed River Walk and enjoyed a stroll along the water. The architecture styles and culture were new for the kids, and they enjoyed seeing it all.
